What a Daunting Task Our Gurus Have; Transmitting The Truth About Samsara and Teaching Dharma to Us.

This morning the 2 large crows that we have been watching for a few months were up very early barking over and over. I knew something was upsetting them. When i went out onto the porch i saw the baby (just old enough to walk) had been blown out of the nest by yesterdays storm. The parents were so concerned and 'cawing cawing cawing'. Then i called my daughter to look and see if she thought it was the baby crow on the sidewalk ~she came out on the porch too. Just then the very innocent, clueless, precious baby crow walked onto the road. Within a second a huge school bus hustling 'round the corner drove over the young life. We both shreiked and stood there helpless. i went out to see if i could do something but too much traffic, and the parent birds were swooping and barking at anyone who went near to the small crushed feathered body laying in the bicycle lane.

The tears welled up and came as a big flood. I thought of my friend who just lost her son at 19 yrs. old. And I thought of our Gurus trying to explain The Four Noble Truths, what a daunting task to get into our minds; like trying to explain a bus to a newly born baby crow ~when we are so clueless and absorbed in samsara~ That life is so fragile, so precious and so short. To get the truth into our mental continuum that reality is not what it seems, that our precious human rebirth is like a mist, a bubble ~ subject to death, and change. That all of our life blood we spend on samsaric activities, we should at least spend this much equally on Dharma activity. Our Gurus please remain as our steadfast friend. There is no Refuge other than you. Om Ah Hum, Om Ah Hum, Om Ah Hum

The mother and Father crow are still watching their lifeless babe ~ I will go out later and bury the body in a ritual way, this black bird's Buddha Nature is a cause for inspiring me to understand Dharma and impermanance, and appreciate the importance of Guru Devotion.
